Small markets set a regional trend

SONAR Key Market Insights: Huntington, West Virginia

Highlights

Huntington, West Virginia, is the freight market with the highest outbound tender rejection rate in the U.S., a rate of 14.77%, a 6.24% week-over-week increase.

While Huntington is one of the smallest markets in the U.S., which means that large swings in rejections are likely to have little impact on spot rates, it is sizable for the area, especially with outbound tender volumes also rising 25.84% w/w.

Smaller markets can absorb swings in capacity more easily than some of the largest markets, but the fact that there is such strong movement in the market and surrounding markets does indicate that there could be some volatility in the region as a whole.
